Why the family doctor is good for your health

Family Doctor Week 2013

Family doctors (GPs) are highly trained and skilled to look after people through all stages of life. “Maintaining regular contact with a trusted GP is good for your health and the health of your family,” according to AMA president Dr Hambleton. “GPs are the highest trained general health professionals, needing 10 to 15 years training before being qualified to practise.”

The family doctor:

  • is central to your health care
  • is trained to care for you throughout your life
  • is good for your health
  • provides a valuable service
  • cares for the health needs of your community.

This week the Australian Medical Association celebrates family medicine. Click here for more information.
